Shanghai, with its blend of traditional Chinese culture, French influences, and modern glass and steel architecture, presents a rich tapestry of visual experiences. Mueller's Multivision Porsche Shanghai captures these different faces of the city in multiple exposures, with the iconic Porsche design always recognizable amidst the varying cityscapes. This project was commissioned by Porsche China for the PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai, showcasing the city's dynamic character through the lens of Mueller's innovative photography.
Mueller's unique approach to photography involves combining three photographs into one image, creating a layered visual experience that reflects the multifaceted nature of Shanghai. The result is a series of fine-art prints mounted on Alu-Dibond, each offering a unique perspective of the city and its iconic sports cars. These artworks are available in different sizes and are all part of limited editions.
The creation of Multivision Porsche Shanghai involved a meticulous process. Initial digital location scouting was followed by physical location scouting in Shanghai. The actual shooting took place in the streets of the city, with post-production completing the process. The entire project, from concept creation to exhibition at Porsche's 70th birthday at Photofairs Shanghai, took approximately three months.
Despite challenges related to weather and finding locations that adequately represented the city's diverse architectural styles, Mueller successfully captured the essence of Shanghai. His innovative use of multiple exposure photography offers viewers an immersive experience, enabling them to appreciate the city's unique blend of tradition and modernity.
In conclusion, Florian W. Mueller's Multivision Porsche Shanghai is a testament to the power of innovative photography in capturing the spirit of a city. His unique approach to multiple exposure photography, combined with his creative vision, resulted in an award-winning artwork that beautifully encapsulates the diverse architectural landscapes of Shanghai. This project not only showcases Mueller's exceptional skill and creativity but also highlights the potential of photography as a medium for exploring and understanding urban landscapes.
